The ISEB Pretest takes a traditional approach, with predictable ”Bond-style” content. This test hasn't changed much since the original GL Assessments ISEB Pretest, which our team members developed. Simply complete the mocks to understand how you do under adaptive, timed conditions, and complete the practice questions on our platform. If your accuracy is low, we will highlight this.
We cover each of the four ISEB subjects in depth, providing a range of difficulty. The tricky sections are the maths word problems and the grammar. Here is the actual ISEB Test Framework.
Maths
The 40-minute ISEB Pretest maths exam is adaptive. We are the only platform that offers adaptive mock exams. The exam covers the Year 5 National Curriculum. There is more emphasis on fractions, decimals, and percentages, which comprise nearly 30% of the National Curriculum, reflecting their importance as prerequisites for pre-algebra. Our mock exams and skills practice will give you adequate coverage of the range and difficulty of the questions on this test.

Non-verbal Reasoning
The Non-verbal Reasoning section is adaptive and takes 30 minutes. We have accurate coverage of all the question types. Our Nonverbal Reasoning questions were developed by the same experts who supply content to all of these tests.
Here is the best part, we are the only platform to provide animated explanations for all of the tricky practice questions so your child can precisely see how to solve the problem. See example below.
We also integrated GeoGebra interactive activities in the Challenge section of NVR, allowing students to visualise and interact with different 3D shapes. Key areas include:
Nets of Cones: Explore how a flat circular sector folds into a 3D cone.
Nets of 3D Shapes: Work with various solids like pyramids and cylinders to understand how they unfold.
Nets of Right Prisms: Visualise the flat layout of prisms and how they form when folded.
Nets of a Tetrahedron: See how four triangular faces combine to form a tetrahedron.
Nets of Cubes: Experiment with how six squares fold to create a cube.
GeoGebra’s interactive approach helps students grasp these concepts, which are essential for the NVR section of the ISEB Pre-Test.

This includes both vocabulary and grammar. These questions ask you to fill in the correct word. For example, they could be asking you to identify the correct tense of a verb or the meaning of a word.
Shuffled Sentences
You have to reorder a group of words into a sentence
SpaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar)
SPaG includes spelling, punctuation and technical grammar questions.
Identify nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions and clauses. These questions can be tricky, particularly the clauses.
You will not be asked the names of specific tenses or complex grammatical terms such as fronted adverbials.
How to identify punctuation in a sentence.
Standard English (proofreading for formal English and correct grammar and punctuation).
Spelling (knowledge of spelling patterns and common exception words).
SpaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar)
Vocabulary (meaning of words).
Morphology (prefixes and suffixes, and word families).
Verbal Reasoning
This section is adaptive and is 25 minutes long and approximately 30 questions. Our questions precisely model the exam format. The ISEB Pre-Test focuses on using letter, word and language-based questions. Students will be assessed on their knowledge of vocabulary and definitions.
Multiple-choice questions alone won't boost vocabulary. An extensive vocabulary is critical for success, so we've pre-curated hundreds of 11+ vocabulary flashcards to rapidly expand your child's word knowledge.
