What will be tested?
The Consortium 11+ test is divided into two parts: core subjects and 'swing subjects'. The traditional subjects include maths, English, Verbal Reasoning (VR), and Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR). These sections feature slightly more challenging questions than the ISEB Pretest.
The 'swing subjects' comprise Creative Comprehension and Problem-Solving. These sections are particularly crucial as they are more challenging than typical ISEB content and can significantly impact a candidate's overall performance.

The Core Subjects
Maths
The 20-minute Consortium 11+ maths exam is adaptive. We are the only platform that offers adaptive mock exams. The exam covers the Year 5 National Curriculum. There is more emphasis on fractions, decimals, and percentages, which comprise nearly 30% of the National Curriculum, reflecting their importance as prerequisites for pre-algebra.
Our mock exams and skills practice will give you adequate coverage of the range and difficulty of the questions on this test.

Non-verbal Reasoning
The Non-verbal Reasoning section is not adaptive and takes 30 minutes. We have accurate coverage of all the question types. Our Nonverbal Reasoning questions were developed by the same experts who supply content to all of these tests.
Here is the best part, we are the only platform to provide animated explanations for all of the tricky practice questions so your child can precisely see how to solve the problem. See example below.
We also integrated GeoGebra interactive activities in the Challenge section of NVR, allowing students to visualise and interact with different 3D shapes. Key areas include:
Nets of Cones: Explore how a flat circular sector folds into a 3D cone.
Nets of 3D Shapes: Work with various solids like pyramids and cylinders to understand how they unfold.
Nets of Right Prisms: Visualise the flat layout of prisms and how they form when folded.
Nets of a Tetrahedron: See how four triangular faces combine to form a tetrahedron.
Nets of Cubes: Experiment with how six squares fold to create a cube.
GeoGebra’s interactive approach helps students grasp these concepts, which are essential for the NVR section of the ISEB Pre-Test.

Comprehension Question Types
Retrieval is finding a piece of information from a text.
Inference is “reading between the lines” and drawing conclusions about something not explicitly stated.
Authorial Technique is how meaning is enhanced through an author’s choice of words and phrases.
Literary Devices such as similes, metaphors and personification.
Vocabulary meaning in context.
Summarisation is finding the main ideas.

Grammar Question Types
The comprehension is followed by approximately 12 questions on standard English which is you have to identifing grammar and punctuation mistakes within a sentence. It is basically 'proofreading'.
Standard English comprises nearly half of the Consortium 11+ and Atom English tests. We provide hundreds of exam-style practice questions to hone these abilities. Our AI Proofreader Bot, inspired by the Eton List Test, accelerates grammar mastery while making the learning process more engaging.
Verbal Reasoning
This section is not adaptive and is 10 minutes long with approximately 14 question. The table below gives a rough estimate of the distribution. It is likely to be even more weighted to Vocabulary Reasoning. But we wanted to provide adequate coverage in the mocks. Our questions precisely model the exam format, including 2-option answers where required. Additionally, we provide extensive practice for the challenging 'Word Problems'. (See screenshot below.)
Multiple-choice questions alone won't boost vocabulary. An extensive vocabulary is critical for success, so we've pre-curated hundreds of 11+ vocabulary flashcards to rapidly expand your child's word knowledge.

The Swing Subjects
Problem-solving
This subject is not adaptive and takes about 15 minutes.
Our content exactly matches the test thanks to our partnership with Geogebra. We cover mental maths, optimisations, and multi-step logic problems. Our AI coach, Dakota, provides exam technique tips for many exercises.
The test format can be challenging due to its unique layout:
Each problem has an interactive Geogebra puzzle/diagram on the right
The Geogebra puzzle/diagram aids problem-solving but isn't required for answering
An answer box is on the left
The Geogebra's can be a bit fiddly on the real exam, so it's important to practice under timed conditions.
We offer both Geogebra-based interactive questions and regular problem-solving sets. Practicing both types will help you improve your skills. Be prepared: these problems challenge even adult problem-solvers.
Creative Comprehension (Analysis)
This subject is not adaptive and takes about 25 minutes.
We offer the market's most extensive practice materials for Creative Comprehension, with over 100 exercises spanning dozens of topics and styles.
This section is not adaptive. It requires your child to read short passages and answer multiple-choice questions based on various sources. They will be asked to:
Assess source reliability
Analyse data from tables, graphs, charts, and maps
Cross-reference sources to compare, contrast, and connect information
Comprehend sources with and without context
Use sources as evidence to support arguments
Familiarity with a range of content types will build confidence and accuracy, making these exercises more fun. problem-solvers.
